Colomé is one of Argentina's oldest wineries and one of the highest in the world, with vineyards in Salta's Calchaquí Valleys exceeding 2,600 meters above sea level. The 1831 bears the winery's founding year as its name and a declaration: this is its most emblematic wine, made from the estate's oldest and most expressive vines. A high-altitude Malbec in every sense.
WINE PROFILE
100% Malbec from pre-phylloxera vines over 100 years old in the Calchaquí Valleys, Salta, at over 2,600 meters above sea level. A full-bodied red with firm and very well-integrated tannins, fresh acidity notable for its concentration, and a mineral profile that clearly distinguishes high-altitude Malbecs from those of Mendoza. Aged in French oak barrels. A wine of unique character within the variety. %
ALCOHOL
14.5%
AGING POTENTIAL
A wine with real aging potential. It can evolve favorably between 12 and 18 years from the vintage under suitable conditions.
SUGGESTED PAIRING
It deserves a table carefully prepared for it. Quality cuts of beef such as tenderloin or ribeye, roasted lamb with herbs, game preparations, and slow-cooked stews. Hard and very aged cheeses are also a good companion. A wine that demands time and attention.
